Spring 2017 Parent Webinar Series
The FDLRS Network announces its Spring 2017 Parent Webinar Series beginning on March 31st! A series of five hour long webinars will be conducted to provide parents and guardians with topics related to exceptional student education. The topics were chosen in response to requests for additional information that was shared on parent surveys. The webinars will take place on Fridays from 10:00AM – 11:00AM EST. The five topics and webinar dates are as follows:
March 31st - Understanding the World of ESE
April 28th - Understanding the Individual Education Plan
May 12th - Instructional Practices
May 19th - Connecting Families with Agencies and Other Resources
June 9th - Family and School Partnerships

What? Florida’s 2016-17 ESE Parent Survey: Make Your Voice Heard!
Who? All Parents of Students with an IEP (PK-22)
When? Ends May 31st , 2017
Let the Florida Department of Education know about how your school partners with you, the parent, to promote parent involvement in your child’s education. A paper survey will be sent home to parents of children with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) within the next two weeks. If you prefer to complete the survey electronically, click here. The Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resource System (FDLRS) developed a Parent Involvement site in cooperation with FDOE/BEESS designed especially to help parents navigate the exceptional student education (ESE) process, from PreK through transition into the adult world of college and/or career. John M. McKay Scholarships for
Students with Disabilities Program
The McKay Scholarship Program allows parents of students with disabilities to choose the best academic environment for their children. This program provides a variety of options including the opportunity to attend a participating private school or transfer to another public school. Eligible students include students with disabilities who and an IEP and who were enrolled and reported for funding by a Florida school district the year prior to applying. Children of parents in the armed forces who transfer to Florida due to a permanent change of orders may be eligible. For more information, visit www.floridaschoolchoice.org.
